July 13, 2008 Dear Inspiritus Equine, Inc. Family, I have been away to work in Hawaii, and then straight to Pebble Beach Dressage upon my return home. Congratulations to Christiane Noelting Dressage Center for all of their amazing scores and ribbons. Testimony to the very hard work of all involved at the CNDC... I am excited to announce that Inspiritus Equine, Inc. will be adding Thermographic Diagnostics to the practice. Thermography allows an infrared diagnosis of current problems or those issues that may become problems! Tendon and soft tissue inflammation can be diagnosed up to 2 weeks before your horse actually shows any signs of lameness! Thermographic diagnostics will be available for: Prepurchase examinations Pre-performance checks Post-performance checks After rehab to ensure complete healing Objective evidence of problems found with acupuncture scan and chiropractic manipulation As an aid in the diagnosis of hoof, limb, and body problems, not diagnosed through convention methods And much, much more! I will include more information about this modality in the August 2008 newsletter. For those of you not receiving the newsletter - Boy are you missing out!!! Articles on saddle fitting, nutrition, medications, and a case study each month. Be sure to sign up through the homepage! As an aside, there seems to be a high incidence of clients reporting their horses are popping splints. This topic was covered in a newsletter, but with the strains of training and showing, and the harder ground in the summer time, this is not uncommon. Splints should be treated with cold/ice therapy, rest, and anti-inflammatories. Chinese Herbal "Bone Stasis" can frequently reduce or eliminate old larger splints after they've formed. Though most splints never cause a problem in the long run, splint fractures may need to be treated surgically to return a horse to performance. Prevention is key. Sincerely, Dr. Robson |
